About VNote
Hailed for its spirited performances and fascinating fusion of Latin and folk rhythms with adventurous jazz explorations, The VNote Ensemble (formerly The Snake Trio) gives a voice to the hidden treasure of Venezuelan music. The band, formed in 1997, is committed to raising that voice and exploring the connection between North American jazz, traditional Venezuelan songs and original musical ideas. Exquisite arrangements, unique compositions, colors and rhythms blend together to deliver a unique musical profile. The VNote Ensemble defiantly ignores musical boundaries to create a new direction that journeys the infectious rhythms of joropo and swing, gaita and soul and be-bop and calypso among many others. The VNote Ensemble is Sam Bevan, Donna Viscuso, Jackeline Rago and Lali Mejia.
"This is Latin jazz with an original perpective that is, qualitatively, one of the best things happening
in the SF Bay Area's world music scene." —Jesse "Chuy" Varela. Latin Beat Magazine. April 2009.
